Procedure: Replacing the DC-DC Converter on the Veemo
This article provides a step-by-step guide to replace the old DC-DC converter in your Veemo with the new low-draw version. This replacement addresses the issue of excessive power drain during standby mode. Customers with the affected converters will receive the updated component at no cost.
Follow the procedure below to complete the replacement safely and correctly.
- New low-draw DC-DC converter (model number: MS-90100S, provided by Envo)
- Note: the old DC-DC converter's model number is MS-90100. Make sure this one is taken out of the Veemo.
- allen key set (compatible with the control panel cover bolts)
- Camera or smartphone (to document wiring connections)
- Safety gloves (optional)
Procedure
1. Prepare for Replacement
- Remove the Battery:
- Ensure the Veemo is powered off.
- Remove the battery from the Veemo to eliminate any risk of electric shock or damage.
2. Access the Control Panel
- Unscrew the Control Panel Cover:
- Using an allen key, unscrew all the bolts securing the control panel cover.
- Keep the bolts in a safe place to avoid losing them.
- Remove the Cover:
- Carefully lift and set aside the control panel cover to access the DC-DC converter.
3. Disconnect the Old DC-DC Converter
- Document the Wiring:
- Before unplugging the old DC-DC converter, use a camera or smartphone to take a clear photo of the wiring connections. This ensures accurate reconnection later.
- Unplug the Converter:
- Gently unplug the old DC-DC converter, noting which wires were connected to each terminal.
4. Install the New DC-DC Converter
- Plug in the New Converter:
- Match the wires to the appropriate terminals on the new low-draw DC-DC converter, referring to your photo for guidance.
- Double-check all connections to ensure they are secure.
5. Reassemble the Control Panel
- Reinstall the Cover:
- Position the control panel cover back in place.
- Tighten the Bolts:
- Screw in the bolts by hand, ensuring they are snug. Be careful not to overtighten, as this can damage the cover or the threads.
6. Reattach the Battery
- Install the Battery:
- Reinsert the battery into the Veemo.
- Test the System:
- Power on the Veemo to confirm the new DC-DC converter functions properly.
